Talend, the first provider of open source data integration software, today announced the immediate availability of Talend Data Quality, its data quality management suite, and of the Data Quality add-on to Talend Integration Suite, the first open source enterprise data integration solution.
I have personally used the Talend tool and I find it easy and intuitive to use with some powerful features that you would normally expect to see only on much more expensive commercially available applications sold under the proprietary software model.
ETL software is valuable in deriving data for customer communications management, allowing the acquisition, standardisation and re-purposing of data from multple data sources for use within customer communications management.
Talend Data Quality is available in two editions: Talend Data Quality Personal Edition is for individual users; Talend Data Quality Enterprise Edition is a collaborative solution that comprises enterprise-grade deployment and monitoring options. Both versions include data profiling and data cleansing features. As an added feature to Talend Integration Suite, Data Quality makes it possible to integrate data cleansing routines within data integration processes.
Data quality is a major concern for companies of all sizes. Data errors or conflicts such as missing zip codes, incomplete addresses and erroneous phone numbers can lead to multiple mailings to the same customer, products misdirected during shipping or lost business. More than a nuisance, poor quality data is expensive, costing companies wasted time and resources as well as irritated customers
Wonderbox, a leading manufacturer of gift boxes, is among the first to adopt Talend Data Quality. For a mass distributor like Wonderbox, it’ss critical to really understand the quality of our data and be able to correct the errors, said Nicolas Vilmont, IT director at Wonderbox. Open source democratizes data quality and puts it within reach of all IT budgets. We were early adopters of Talend Data Quality and this solution clearly meets market needs.
Fabrice Bonan, Talend’ss COO and cofounder, said: Since its launch last June, Talend Open Profiler, the first open source data profiling software, has already been downloaded by more than 15,000 users and has built an active community. This illustrates an important market demand. Users want open source solutions in every aspect of data management, which used to be the province of expensive proprietary software. We are confident that our open source data quality solutions will be a big success.
